So, you want to visit Aruba? The happiest island is known for its stunning beaches, vibrant culture, and year-round sunny weather. Don’t worry; Aruba has something for everyone.
I chose to visit Aruba solo, and it was a great decision. They say Aruba is for lovers, but who was going to stop me if I love myself enough for two? It is certainly not the cheapest island to visit alone, so keep that in mind.
If you plan to go solo, consider visiting the ABC islands. You can explore Aruba, Bonaire, and Curacao in one trip. You can cross off three countries.
Let’s explore how much fun you can have on your potential visit to Aruba!
Getting There
- Several major airlines offer direct flights to Aruba’s Queen Beatrix International Airport (AUA). These flights are available from various United States, Canada, Europe, and South America.
- Flight duration vary depending on the departure location, with most flights from North America taking around 4-5 hours.
- Consider booking your flight in advance to secure the best deals, especially during peak tourist seasons.
- Remember that their carnival season starts around winter and ends on a floating day in March.
Flamingos at Renaissance Island
Visiting the Renaissance Aruba Resort & Casino in Aruba to see the famous flamingos is a unique experience.

Renaissance Island is a private island owned by the Renaissance Aruba Resort & Casino. It’s divided into Iguana Beach (family-friendly) and Flamingo Beach (adults-only, where the flamingos reside).
Flamingo Beach
This is where you’ll find the iconic pink flamingos. They are friendly with humans, making it a perfect opportunity for photos and interaction.

- Day Passes: Access to Flamingo Beach is exclusive to Renaissance Aruba Resort & Casino guests. However, a limited number of day passes are available for non-guests, but they sell out quickly.
- Cost: Day passes cost approximately $125–150 per person, depending on the season.
- When to Purchase: Day passes can be purchased at the Renaissance Marina on the morning of your visit. You can also get tickets directly from their website the day before based on availability using this link. Arrive or log in early (around 7:00–8:00 AM) as they are first-come, first-served and usually sell out within minutes.
- Alternative: If you’re staying at the Renaissance Resort, access to the island is included in your stay. A water taxi shuttles guests to and from the island.
Iguana Beach-Family Friendly
The Aruba Marriott Resort is a family-friendly paradise. It has beautiful soft white sand and calm turquoise waters. There are also frequent iguana sightings that kids love. Taking your family here lets kids spot the friendly iguanas. The shallow, gentle waters are perfect for swimming and splashing.
Families can build sandcastles, rent paddleboards or snorkel gear, and enjoy beach picnics. The resort usually provides amenities like chairs, umbrellas, and easy access to dining. It’s a relaxing yet fun spot where parents can unwind and let the kids play. This makes it an ideal destination for family vacationers in Aruba.
Important Tips
- Best Time to Visit: Early morning or late afternoon for fewer crowds and better lighting for photos.
- What to Bring: Sunscreen, a hat, water, and a camera. Food and drinks are available on the island, but they can be pricey.
- Rules: Respect the flamingos and avoid feeding them anything other than the approved food available on the island.
- Overfeeding: Coming early in the morning, ensures that they have not been overfed and they are more likely to interact with you that way
Clear Kayak Experience

My clear kayak experience in Aruba was absolutely magical. I booked my tour with a kayak company on the island. This company caught my attention from its clear kayaks and drone photo shoots. I felt welcomed and cared for from the moment I arrived, and the entire experience was nothing short of amazing.
The staff greeted me with big smiles and a refreshing homemade tea mix when I arrived. It was a thoughtful touch and instantly made me feel relaxed and excited for the adventure ahead. Everyone was so kind and happy to have me there, and their positive energy was contagious.
The tour itself lasted a full hour. This was the perfect amount of time to enjoy the beauty of Aruba’s crystal-clear turquoise waters. At first, I was a little nervous because I couldn’t swim. The staff went above and beyond to ensure I felt safe and comfortable. They used a paddleboard to guide me into the deeper parts of the water. The water was clearer there. That is where the photo shoot took place.
Drone Photo Shoot

The experience stood out because of the personalized attention. They provided homemade tea. The staff also paddleboarded me into the deeper water. It was clear that they wanted everyone to have an amazing time, no matter their swimming ability. They also offered me pose ideas. They instructed me on the best ways to have the best photos. The drone photos were the cherry on top. I left feeling like I’d just had a once-in-a-lifetime adventure.
The Photos
The highlight of the experience was definitely the drone. The clear kayak looked incredible, floating over the turquoise water. The drone captured stunning aerial shots of me surrounded by the ocean’s beauty. It felt like something out of a dream! The photos turned out absolutely breathtaking, I couldn’t believe how professional and artistic they looked. It’s not every day you get to have a photo shoot like that, and I’ll treasure those images forever.

This clear kayak experience was more than just a photoshoot—it was a day filled with kindness, beauty, and unforgettable memories. Every detail was perfect, from the warm welcome to the stunning drone photos. If you’re ever in Aruba, I can’t recommend this enough. It’s an adventure that truly captures the island’s magic, and I’m so grateful I got to experience it!
Tips for Your Trip
- Book Early: If you’re not staying at the Renaissance Resort, plan to arrive early for day passes. Alternatively, consider booking a night at the resort to guarantee access to Flamingo Beach.
- Timing: Visit during the dry season (January–August) for the best weather.
- Local Currency: While USD is widely accepted, it’s good to have some local currency (Aruban Florin) for smaller vendors.
Aruba Full-Day Tour
The Oranjestad Full-Day Aruba History and Landmarks Tour takes you through some of Aruba’s most iconic and culturally significant sites. Make sure you book your activity in advance as they sell out often during high season.
1. California Lighthouse

This iconic lighthouse, named after the SS California shipwreck, stands at the northern tip of Aruba. It has a panoramic view of the island’s coastline and the Caribbean Sea.
2. Alto Vista Chapel

This small, picturesque chapel is one of Aruba’s oldest and most peaceful landmarks. It’s a place of spiritual significance and a symbol of the island’s Catholic heritage.
3. Casabari Rock Formations

These massive boulders are a natural wonder, with ancient Arawak petroglyphs carved into the rocks. Here, you can catch a glimpse into Aruba’s indigenous history.
4. Aloe Vera Factory Tour

The tour begins with an overview of aloe vera’s history in Aruba. You’ll learn how aloe vera was introduced to the island in the 19th century and became a major export product.
5. Natural Bridge (or Baby Bridge)

Although the original Natural Bridge collapsed in 2005, the nearby Baby Bridge remains popular. The relentless force of the ocean created these natural limestone formations. You will be given a choice to walk over the bridge. Be aware that it may collapse at any time. You do this at your own risk.
6. Oranjestad City Tour
The tour ends with a visit to Aruba’s capital, Oranjestad. You’ll get to explore the colorful Dutch colonial architecture, markets, and historical landmarks.
Each site has a unique perspective on the island’s heritage and landscape. By the end of the tour, you’ll feel a deeper connection to Aruba.
