If you’re looking for things to do in New York, you’ve come to the right place. Exploring the city may be overwhelming initially, but having a list of must-visit spots will reduce your anxiety.

Here are some of my favorite things to do in New York. Some activities may not be as popular, but you will have some amazing options, from iconic landmarks to local hidden gems. There is never a shortage of activities in New York. You will have a great time no matter where you go.

Start with Times Square, Central Park, and the Empire State Building. Visit the Statue of Liberty, Wall Street, and the 9/11 Memorial. Explore museums, see a Broadway show, and walk the Brooklyn Bridge.

The Ultimate City Itinerary

First Day – City Tour

  • Morning: Head to Central Park to explore the 843-acre urban park in the heart of Manhattan. Take a walk, jog, or bike ride around the picturesque park, or rent a rowboat to paddle around the lake.
  • Afternoon: Enjoy lunch at one of the many cafes and restaurants in the Upper West Side. Then, head to the American Museum of Natural History. Learn about the wonders of our natural world there.
  • Evening: Catch a live performance at the Lincoln Center, home to several of New York’s most famous performing arts institutions.

Third Day – Local Tour

  • Morning: Explore the trendy neighborhoods of Greenwich Village and SoHo. Stroll down Bleecker Street and browse the boutiques and vintage shops in SoHo.
  • Afternoon: Head to the Chelsea Market for lunch and browse the artisanal food vendors and specialty shops. Then, walk the High Line, an elevated park built on an abandoned railway track.
  • Evening: Catch a comedy show at the Comedy Cellar, one of New York’s most famous comedy clubs.

Fourth Day – Museums

  • Morning: Visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Explore one of the world’s most extensive collections of art and artifacts from across the globe.
  • Afternoon: Enjoy lunch at one of the many cafes and restaurants in the Upper East Side. Then, head to the Guggenheim Museum. Admire the unique architecture and modern art exhibits.
  • Evening: Take in a jazz performance at the famous Blue Note jazz club in Greenwich Village.

Fifth Day – Sightseeing and Food

  • Morning: Visit the famous Empire State Building for breathtaking city views from the observation deck.
  • Afternoon: Visit the Museum of Modern Art, which houses an impressive contemporary and modern art collection.
  • Evening: End your trip with a luxurious dinner at a Michelin-starred restaurant. Consider dining at ‘Per Se’ or ‘Le Bernardin’ for a truly unforgettable culinary experience.
