Some of my coworkers were on that flight, and tragically, they lost their lives in this devastating accident. It’s incredibly heartbreaking to think about the people expecting their loved ones, only minutes away from landing. Then, instead of a joyful reunion, they have to go back home with a huge loss and plan a funeral. They are all gone too soon.

My deepest condolences go out to their families, friends, and loved ones during this unimaginable time. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected, and I hope for strength and healing for those left behind. May those we lost rest in peace.

Details of the Incident

On January 29, 2025, a tragic mid-air collision occurred over the Potomac River near Washington, D.C., involving an American Airlines regional jet and a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter. The accident resulted in the deaths of all 67 individuals on board both aircraft.

They see only in shades of green and black through narrow vision scopes. They try to differentiate aircraft lights from stars and ground lights. Pilots must manage multiple radio frequencies.

They navigate without peripheral vision. They maintain control of the aircraft while tracking multiple planes in the sky. Even a few seconds of distraction can be fatal. The pilot emphasizes that flying these machines is incredibly tough, and night vision goggles (NVGs) make it even harder.
